How MTN Goody Bag works

• There are three (3) different types of Goody Bags to choose from;
• Goody Bag 1 consists of 30 on-net voice minutes and 30 on-net SMS
• Goody Bag 2 consists of 30 on-net voice minutes and 20MB Data
• Goody Bag 3 consists of 150 on-net voice minutes and 200 national SMS

• To buy any of the goody bags, simply text the purchase keyword to the short code 131.

Example:

• For Goody Bag 1, text G300 to 131. Costs N300
• For Goody Bag 2, text G400 to 131. Costs N400
• For Goody Bag 3, text G750 to 131. Costs N750

• Once you have sent the command of the Goody Bag that you want to buy, the system will then:
• Deduct the applicable Goody Bag fee from your main account
• Credit your Voice/SMS or Data dedicated accounts
• Send a successful purchase notification message

• You can only purchase ONE Goody Bag at a time.

• Goody Bags 1 and 2 are valid for 7 days while Goody Bags 3 is valid for 30 days from the day the Goody Bag was purchased.

• You will be able to check your Goody Bag balance by dialling *559#.

WHEN YOUR SIM SAYS SIM REGISTRATION FAILED OR INSERT SIM.

When your sim says sim registration failed or insert sim card, it means that your MTN sim is bad and you need to do a sim swap(Welcome back). But if it says sim registration failed or insert sim and still comes up once in a while please try and backup every contact you have in that sim because the moment  you do a sim swap all information on the sim will be formatted meaning that you will loose every unsaved data. It is advisable to always put the sim in another phone before finally deciding to do a sim swap,because at times when the sim is still in the process of failing it still works in some phones especially smaller Nokia phones.So  Below are the requirements for doing a sim swaps

1. ID card. This can be any Identity card like National ID,Voters card, Drivers licence, Valid businees ID, work ID, International passport. ETC

2. Last sim pack if you have done sim swap before otherwise just provide your sim pack.

3. 4 frequently called numbers. For those who are using family and friends or who have once used family and friends , it will be easier if you provide the numbers that you registered as your family and friends.

4. You have to know the tariff plan you are using e.g Family and friends, Supersaver,MTN Zone, PayGo,MTN Pulse ETC.

5. You also have to know the year that you started using the number that is your year of activation. Note that MTN Nigeria started in 2001.

6. The last amount you recharged.

7. alternatively you can provide your security number, the complete 16 digits.

Now,you are good to go to any MTN walk-in center and they will give you a welcome back form to fill.


Please also note that if you want to do swap for someone, the person will write a letter of authorization stating that he/she sent you to do a welcome back with his/her full name and the number that the swap will be done on. The letter should be an official letter. The person will also give you his/her ID card that has a signature. Below is a format for the authorisation letter.

 _{Talking about the MTN MIFI will not be complete without talking about the meaning of MIFI. So i will do a brief talk on the word MIFI. The word, WiFi, is actually a trademark of the WiFi Alliance. In addition, all products using the IEEE 802.11 family of standards equally bear the name. MiFi is a small and portable wireless device that gives its carrier a permanent Wi-Fi hotspot wherever he/she goes, thereby remaining connected to the Internet. Developed by Novatel, the MiFi device is also called ‘intelligent mobile hotspot’. Normally, one has to bank on the presence of a fixed wireless router to generate a Wi-Fi cloud over a limited area around a café, campus etc. With a MiFi device in a person’s pocket or bag, that cloud remains present everywhere the person goes. Moreover the Wi-Fi through the MiFi device cloud allows several persons to get connected at the same time, sharing the same connection.MiFi works with cellular 3G networks (mainly HSPDA and EVDO) for receiving signals that allow Internet connectivity. The device then shares that connection through Wi-Fi in a radius of 10 meters (30 feet) to to a number of Wi-Fi enabled devices, which is normally limited to 5.This brings many advantages to users, including full Internet connection (with speeds beyond 1.5 Mbps) in cars, trains, planes and even the seaside or forest - anywhere there is cellular 3G network coverage. There are a thousand and one ways to connect any Wi-Fi enabled device to the Internet through a hotspot and even more reasons to do so.MiFi also allows you to use Voice over IP technology to make free calls (or very cheap ones) both locally and internationally. 1. Insert your SIM Card via the SIM card slot entrance at the back of your MiFi device. 
2. Connect the MiFi to a PC with the compatible data cable inside the pack 
3. Power on the MiFi by pressing and holding the power button until the light comes on. 
4. The modem is ‘’plug and play’’ and will auto install upon powering it on. However if the auto install does not work, simply double click the setup icon in the MiFi folder from your computer and wait for the software to install. Using the MTN MiFi in USB mode
1. Once installation is completed successfully, launch the MTN MiFi from the icon on your desktop to open the MTN MiFi user interface. (If you’re having problems loading the page, check your browser proxy settings; be sure to select “Automatically detect settings”) 
2. Once the user interface is launched, type the Login Password: default password is admin (you are advised to change this password for security reasons). 
3. Recharge and activate any Data plan from the Subscription page on the Interface. You can also send the appropriate keyword by SMS, to activate a Data plan. 
4. Once you receive the SMS confirmation for your data plan, you can launch a browser and connect to the Internet. Using the MTN MiFi in Wireless (Wi-Fi) mode
After you have successfully activated a data bundle using the MTN MiFi user interface, you can connect up to 5 WiFi-capable devices simultaneously to the internet. 
1. Ensure your MiFi device is powered on (press and hold the power button until the light comes on). 
2. Turn on WiFi on your computer or device and search for available wireless networks, then select & connect to the MTN MiFi E5830S (Password/key is printed behind the device). Note that you can modify the display device name (SSID) from the admin interface. After you establish a Wi-Fi connection successfully, you can start browsing the internet. Refer to the user guide manual for more information on how to manage the modem in WiFi mode How to activate the free MTN MIFI Bundle
1. Launch the MTN MiFi icon from your computer or start your Internet browser and enter http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar. 
2. Type the Login Password: default password is admin (you are advised to change this password to prevent for security reasons). 
3. Click on SMS at the top of the screen and send an SMS with keyword MIFI to 131. 
4. You will receive an acknowledge SMS confirming you now have 3GB of data, valid for 1 month. 
5. Now you can connect to the Internet.
